About Sterling Baptist

Who We Are:

Sterling Baptist Church is a church family of different cultures coming together to bring God's hope and love to our community and world. We want to provide a place of grace and ministry to those who are hurting. We want to provide family and care for those that need connection. We want to build up people to follow Jesus to be his hands and feet in serving our community, country, and world.

What We Value:

FAMILY and COMMUNITY: We want to build relationships with one another and lift one another up in prayer. We want to be there for each other in hardships and difficulties. We want to rejoice with one another in our successes and blessings. While no church is perfect, we strive for unity in our ministry and relationships with one another.

DIVERSITY: We take pride in having two services here that reach different types of cultures. We have an English service at 9:30 am and a Hispanic service at 10:45 am. While we have two different services in two different languages, we strive to be ONE united church together in mission and fellowship. We believe in building relationships across cultures to be a stronger family to reach our community.

DISCIPLESHIP: We believe in studying God's word! However, we don't study God's word for our own benefit or to keep it to ourselves. We believe God's word strengthens us to better love Him and our neighbors in the community. Discipleship prepares us to release the ministry of grace, love, and hope to the world. It requires us to follow Jesus and join Him in His work of building the kingdom of God.

WHAT WE BELIEVE:

GOD: We believe God is the creator and ruler of all things. We believe that God is a God of love that seeks not to condemn the world, but to save and redeem the world through His Son, Jesus Christ. We believe that God reveals himself through the trinity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and one God. Isaiah 40:28; 1 Chronicles 29:11-12; John 3:16-17; 2 Corinthians 13:14

JESUS CHRIST: We believe that Jesus is co-equal with the Father. He came to earth and lived a sinless life, and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for all the people of the world. We believe He died, and yet resurrected in three days. He offers us a relationship with Him today through His Holy Spirit. He is able and willing to save all who confess and believe in His name. John 10:30; Hebrews 10:14; John 3:16; Revelation 3:20; Romans 10:9-10; Romans 10:13; 1 Corinthians 15: 3-7

THE HOLY SPIRIT: The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He is always working in the world to prepare hearts for Jesus Christ. He lives in every moment of salvation. Through the Holy Spirit we find our gifts in ministry, power for living, and understanding of spiritual truth. Christians should live by His direction daily. Matthew 3:16; Acts 1:8; John 14:16-17; 2 Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 12:1-11; 2 Timothy 1:7; Galatians 5:25

THE BIBLE: The Bible defines itself as the "breath of God". God speaks to us through His word. Though written by humans, the Bible was inspired by the Spirit of God. Because of this inspiration, it is our measure of truth, and we believe it is without error. It is useful for teaching His ways. It corrects us when we are on the wrong path. It defines sin and how it corrupts the world, and rebukes its ways. It trains us in how to follow Jesus and to go into the world to bring hope and redemption.

SALVATION: We believe that all persons have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. Because God loves us in our sinful condition, He sent his son Jesus to the world to die for our sins. Through His power the Father resurrected Christ bringing us all victory over sin and death. We believe salvation is a gift offered to all people, however it is a gift that must be accepted through confessing our sin and believing that Jesus is Lord. We believe salvation is only found through Jesus Christ, and cannot be earned by human effort alone. Romans 3:23; John 3:16; 1 Corinthians 15:55-57; Romans 5:8; Romans 10: 9-10; Ephesians 2:8-9

ETERNAL SECURITY: Once a person has accepted Christ as Savior, nothing can separate that person from the love and saving power of Christ. The Christian is secure in their salvation through eternity by the grace and love of God. Romans 8:38-39; John 10:29

ETERNITY: We believe that humans are eternal creatures. We were made for a relationship with God and eternity with Him. To be eternally separated from God is hell. Heaven and hell are places of eternal existence. 1 John 5:11-12; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15
